If There's a Rooster on the Roof...

Second RMISA road trip of the year.  Aspen Colorado and Soldier Hollow, Utah. Nothing but pictures:

Toom with the test skis. Taking notes.

Marine and Toom. Making decisions

Fortunately for me, there was a chairlift that went directly over the race course. So I was able to coach from above, and I didn't have to climb any hills.

These mountains are in Aspen.
We don't go anywhere without our groupies.  As has been the norm this winter, Hannah had her own personal cheering squad from the Twin Cities.

JC

Sigurd with an aggressive start

It was Everett's first RMISA college race ever, and he was dressed right!

The boyz.

Tuva

In the men's classic race, things started heating up about one kilometer from the finish line.

150 meters to go and Espen is giving everything he has!

Leki has a new kind of ski pole that Denver is testing. Few people know about it. But you and I do.

Espen finished second. His first of many future RMISA podiums.

Imagine how scorched our athletes' hands would be from hot molten wax if they didn't wear protective mittens for waxing.

And just like that, we're packing up, hitting the road, leaving Aspen behind and headed for Utah.

Maggi caught a cold. When you get sick on this team you get rewarded with the biggest, plushest bed in the biggest, most luxurious bedroom in the team house. Maggi was living well in Utah!

Michaela and Tuva at Soldier Hollow

On this team, we support our teammates. That's just how we do it. Here's the whole mens' team cheering for Anna near the top of  Hermod's Hill.

Post race. Maggi was finally well enough to leave the house for an hour or two.

I managed to break free for a little alpine skiing one afternoon in Utah. When you go to Snowbird, this is the kind of skiing you can look forward to. This is the tunnel to Mineral Basin.
Pre-race meeting at the team house

Pre-race preparation in the wax cabin at Soldier Hollow.

Early in the race. JC looking and feeling relaxed.

Espen

Final lap. 800 meters to the finish. Pandemonium, and Sigurd going away on the final uphill. JC and Espen sixth and seventh. At the finish line it was Sigurd second, Espen third, JC fourth. We won the men's race.

Maxi Bie first, Siggi second, Espen third.

Post-race in the wax cabin. A huge thank you to Erik Mundahl (in blue) for his help and expertise this weekend!
